I don't know the exact number of uses it takes to improve, but it takes about 5 minutes and 35 seconds. Tested in Mehadi Swamp, room after entrance, no distractions, 1-line, no stopping to refill mana, or use of macro programs.

Err, 1 line. With 2 lines, I'd guess 11 minutes, 10 seconds per improve. Lemme edit that.
